What’s New This Week
For the week of July 29, 2016
This week ushers us into the last technical month of summer and it isn’t holding back. We’re squeezing out every last drop of summer possible, including concert series and festivals. While the nights are warm and the beer is cold, come check out what’s still going on before this summer it winds down.

(View the Counting Crows/Rob Thomas article here) Shake up your senses at the top of the weekend, Friday, July 29, at Amos’ Southend with DeLozier, Lance SOAL, Q, DBD Chaoz Muzic and Revfia Disapu. Check out an early show at Snug Harbor with Cordovas and Joe Firstman, enjoy the funk/rock fusion of My Three Sons at Double Door Inn, or get your hardcore rock and metal fix at The Milestone with October, Noctomb, Death Still and Violent Gods. You can also check out School of Rock Allstars Friday evening at Visulite Theatre, or indie pop/rock blend Jon Lindsay with rock group Arc & Stones at The Evening Muse.

On Saturday, July 30, pay a visit to Neighborhood Theatre for Summer Splash featuring Sun-Dried Vibes, Tatanka, Bumpin Uglies, Dale & The Zdubs, Five40, See Water, Queen City Dub, Lovely Budz and The Dubber; The Evening Muse for The Riflery with Gabrielle Sophia and Vance Fite; or Visulite Theatre for Eclectric Vibe Tribe’s Summer Dance Party featuring Dew Boy Fresh. Elsewhere on Saturday night, you can check out some blues and rock at Double Door Inn by way of Part-Time Blues Band; Grits & Biscuits will be at The Fillmore; or listen to Serfs at Snug Harbor along with Naked Naps, Not Blood Paint and Wahya’s. The Milestone will also host Charlotte’s Goth/industrial dance night, Digital Noir, Saturday night featuring Michael Price and DJ Spider, while Journey tribute, Departure, and Coldplay tribute, 42, team up again over at Amos‘.
Sunday, July 31, rounds out the weekend with karaoke at Snug Harbor’s Bone Snugs-N-Harmony and harp-guitarist Muriel Anderson at The Evening Muse. Our pals in the Raleigh/Durham area will be spending their weekend with Durham’s Carolina Theatre Films’ Retro Classics Friday night, followed up by There’s My Angel Saturday night at Carolina Theatre and K Michelle at The Ritz Raleigh. On Sunday, locals can check out The Fall of Troy along with ’68 and Illustrations at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro County.
Return to some of your favorite venues for some weekly features Monday, August 1, including Snug Harbor’s Knocturnal, Double Door Inn’s The Monday Night Allstars, and The Evening Muse‘s open mic night, Find Your Muse, with featured artist this week, jazz and funk fusion Ben Phan. On Tuesday, August 2, check out some punk rock at The Milestone with Rosewave, Invaluable and Castoff, enjoy Snug Harbor’s lineup of Modern Primitives with GT, For the Byrds and Joules, or Double Door Inn‘s weekly jazz night, Bill Hanna Jazz Jam. Also on Tuesday night, Neighborhood Theatre hosts the music and social media festival, DigiTour Summer 2016, featuring Jake T. Austin, Baby Ariel, Dylan Dauzat, Weston Koury and Dyllan Murray, while The Evening Muse hosts the open mic comedy show, All Organic Comedy.
For some visual stimulation middle of the week, you can find Magic Men LIVE! at The Fillmore Wednesday night, August 3, or you can enjoy some more open mic-style fun with The Tosco House Party at The Evening Muse. Snug Harbor will be welcoming its August residency Wednesday night, Left & Right, presented by Ink Floyd, accompanied by Daddy Issues, Rapper Shane and Elevator Jay this week. Back up north of Charlotte, our friends at Cat’s Cradle wrap up their week Wednesday night with Boris performing music of PINK, along with Earth.
Finishing up the week in the QC Thursday, August 4, will be your choice of garage rock at The Evening Muse with The Peach Kings and Mobley, alt-rock at The Milestone with Knowne Ghost, Gardens, The Moose and Little Furry Things, or with Snug Harbor’s weekly party, SHIPROCKED!.
