As we hit the midway mark of summer, lots of favorite venues host some of the most anticipated concerns, benefits, and events. From locals and city fixtures, to fresh faces and genres, the QC and surrounding continues to cater to all of our musical cravings this week.

Stirring up some trouble this weekend, Friday evening, July 15, will be reggae artist Beres Hammond at Amos’ Southend, hip-hop lineup featuring Cross Stitch, 403 MOB, Jay Mac, The Worshiper and Stitchy C at The Milestone, Fleetwood Mac cover band Rumours at The Fillmore, and Spirit System at Snug Harbor along with Stargazer Lillies, Pale Dian and Josh Cotterino.
Also, you can check out some local NC groups at Double Door Inn, including Luxuriant Sedans and Red Dirt Revelators, or swing by Neighborhood Theatre for some unique and energetic styles featuring Designer Drugs, Danny B, DJ Ynot, YUKI, DJ Ez-Kill, DOMii and DJ Zoe Gray. Antonio Diaz and Charlotte Music Heroes will also be at The Evening Muse Friday night for Charlotte Does Marvin Gaye benefiting VH1′s Save The Music along with Groove 8, Walter Brown, Micaila Milburn, Derrick Hines, The Hawthornes, Tony McCullough, Tshmango, Fayth Hope and more, followed up by a later set with Us & Them, Bad Karol and Rothschild.

On Saturday, July 16, the AM/FMs return to the stage at Snug Harbor joined by Mike Adams At His Honest Weight and Glimpses, while local punk group The Kyle Perkins Band takes on The Milestone along with The ThoughtCriminals, Kilberth, Minimums and Anchor Detail, Visulite Theatre hosts Wasteland, and bluegrass meets rock at Neighborhood Theatre by way of Junior Brown and Jim Garrett. Elsewhere on Saturday, Amos’ Southend throws another nostalgic party with Guns N Roses tribute band Appetite for Destruction and Metallica tribute Ride the Lightning, and Double Door Inn hosts a benefit for musician Jake Berger, Jake Rattle & Roll, featuring Crisis, The Belmont Playboys, members of The Spongetones and Sheila Carlisle.

Check out some weekly favorites beginning Sunday, July 17, with Snug Harbor’s karaoke party, Bone Snugs-N-Harmony, or stop by Double Door for some punk rock with Freakwater and Morgan Geer’s Drunken Prayer. Our neighboring area, Raleigh/Durham, starts their week with a weekend-long showing of The Shining Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night at Carolina Theatre’s Retro Epics, four-piece classic rock group The Struts with Dorothy at Cat’s Cradle Friday night, and NC organization for girls and women, Girls Rock NC Chapel Hill Showcase at Cat’s Cradle Saturday night.

On, Monday, July 18, Snug Harbor holds another music trivia night with Let’s Get Quizzical, while Double Door hosts another variety night with The Monday Night Allstars, and The Evening Muse‘s Find Your Muse open mic night hosts this week solo artist Brooks Dixon. The week continues with some hard rock and metal at The Milestone featuring Dischordia, Baasthyrian, Kairos and Altar Blood, Red Jesse & The Dead Men with Beach Bath and Koosh at Snug Harbor, Double Door Inn‘s Bill Hanna Jazz Jam, and Jon Stickley Trio at Visulite Theatre.

Snug Harbor‘s July residency, Patabama, returns for another week Wednesday night, July 20, joined this time by Infektion and Paint Fumes, while The Milestone gets an array of rock ‘n’ roll with Dog Party, Sneeze Attack and Almost People, blues-inspired rock crew Brent Johnson & The Call Up pay a visit to Double Door Inn, and The Evening Muse patrons will enjoy the soulful rock of A Muscle Shoals Music Revue with The Amy Black Band.

Thursday, July 21, ties up the end of the week with American rock band Trapt at Amos’, a stop at The Fillmore for Michael Franti & Spearhead’s SOULROCKER tour, Snug Harbor‘s end-of-the-week party, SHIPROCKED!, and Truckstop Preachers at Visulite Theatre. Additionally on Thursday evening, you can check out the New York to NoDa Showcase at Neighborhood Theatre featuring Evergone, Reece Van Riper, Long Arms and Molly Wops, some alt-rock at The Milestone with Out of Body, Uncoil, Shagwuf and Little Fury Things, some punk rock at Double Door with Bobby Mahoney and The Seventh Son, Careless Romantic and Rogue Planet, or check out the 7th annual Patty Griffin Tribute at The Evening Muse.
